The Rhode Island Arts and Health Network (RIAHN) was developed through a partnership between the Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) and the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts (RISCA) to create and support the Rhode Island State Arts and Health Plan (Plan). The Plan outlines a strategy for fully integrating arts and arts-based therapies into healthcare and community settings through innovative and sustainable policy, practice, and research recommendations. As part of this process an interdisciplinary team of arts and health practitioners which includes researchers, artists, and clinicians conducted an evidence search of arts-based interventions and created a mapping of the evidence which portrays the connections between interventions and populations.
To promote understanding of the powerful role that the arts can play in health and healing and to advance the integration of arts and health in our state.
We envision fully integrated and sustainable arts and health systems that build on the State’s rich creative capital and innovative healthcare infrastructure.
